Resource Database

The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey developed and maintains its own Information & Resources Database to compile information about brain injury programs and experienced professionals committed to providing quality services to individuals with brain injury.

The Problem

In New Jersey, 9000 people sustain traumatic brain injuries each year that are severe enough to require hospitalization.  65% are discharged directly to home after hospital treatment (NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, Center for Health Statistics, Health Data Fact Sheet 2007 on Traumatic Brain Injury).  After discharge, services are often poorly planned, disjointed, or not provided.

Our Solution

The Information & Resources Database is the largest statewide computerized database dedicated to providing resources in New Jersey to individuals affected by brain injuries.  The information it contains is available to everyone who calls the Alliance’s Helpline.  Our Information & Resources Specialists provide callers with resources based on their geographic area and request.  Since 2002, social workers and discharge planners from New Jersey’s Level I and II Trauma Centers have also been using our Information & Resources Database to help their patients.

How BI Professionals Join

If you provide services to people affected by brain injury in New Jersey, you don’t want to overlook this resource.  Each year, more than 2,000 calls are received by our I&R Specialists from individuals seeking information about health care providers, case managers, attorneys, educators, and more.  The Information & Resources Database is the tool they use to provide callers with options.  It is also used by the Alliance’s Family Support Specialists and other staff, as well as discharge planners and social workers of New Jersey’s designated trauma centers.

To join the Database, individuals and private practitioners can download our I&R Database Application Form. Facilities and organizations may email Kristopher Hopwood at khopwood@bianj.org to request our I&R Database Facility/Organization Application.

Help Us Stay Current

Attention professionals…If you are already listed in the BIANJ Information & Resources Database, please notify the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey if any of your information changes.  Our I&R and the Trauma Centers throughout the state make every effort to provide the most updated information to those we serve.
