Brain Injury Traveling Workshops

The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey provides free educational opportunities for all people affected by brain injury, including family and friends, and training opportunities for the professionals who support them. Have our staff train you at your facility; the following Training Workshops are available.

Introduction to Brain Injury

Participants will learn the basic facts about the brain and brain injury, including the causes and consequences of brain injury, living with a brain injury and its effects, and how professionals can assist people with brain injury and their family members.

Brain Injury Basics

Participants will learn about what brain injury is; the incidence of brain injury; the common effects of brain injury; strategies family members can use; tips for caregivers; and resources available to families through the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey.

Brain Injury in Students

Participants will be provided an overview of brain injury, brain injury in the school system, effects of brain injury, accommodations & strategies to assist students, and programs and services of the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey.

Concussion in Youth Sports

Participants will be provided an overview of concussion, including signs and symptoms, risk of secondary injury (including Second Impact Syndrome), and guidelines for return to play and return to the classroom following concussion.

Substance Abuse & Brain Injury

Participants will learn about the basics of brain injury, the incidence of substance abuse in those affected by brain injury, and how to adapt your substance abuse program for people with brain injury.

Advocacy and Appealing to New Jersey Elected Officials

Participants will learn what advocacy is; how to construct an advocacy message; basic information about who your elected officials are and the legislative process; and, how to get involved with advocacy efforts through the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey.
