Supporting Students with Brain Injuries: Strategies to Improve Cognitive & Academic Skills
Educators play a significant role in teaching students with brain injuries, often without the necessary “how to.” This workshop will discuss the academic and social needs of these students and provide strategies that can be applied in the classroom.
Lois Mishkin is an ASHA and NJ licensed Speech/Language Pathologist, a NJ Certified Learning Disabilities Consultant and a Certified Rehab Service Provider for ADHD. She was a Program Coordinator of Child and Adolescent Services in a program for people with brain injuries where she wrote IEP’s and supervised program implementation. Lois co-authored a chapter in a textbook on brain injury, and co-wrote a manual for educators on brain injury. She was appointed to the NJ Special Education and Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force and maintains a private practice.
