Do I need to register each member of my family?
Everyone that attends the 5K Run Walk and Roll must be registered to participate. Children under the age of 2 do not need to register.
Can I register at the event?
It is encouraged that participants pre-register and check in at packet pick-up the night before the event (Friday, October 9, 2020) to minimize crowding. Day-of registration will be available online-only, at bianj.org/5kwalk.
How do I participate virtually?
The great thing about participating virtually is that you can do it on your time, your way! Get active whenever you want, or join us virtually on October 10th. We’ll be live streaming the opening remarks and start time on our Facebook page.
If you choose the t-shirt option when you register, a t-shirt will be mailed to you. More information for runners and time tracking coming soon.
How will the in-person event be socially distanced?
The event itself (at Bradley Beach Boardwalk) and the after party (at Wonder Bar, Asbury Park) will be held outdoors. Participants are encouraged to maintain a six foot distance from others outside their household, and to wear a mask when not running. No food will be served before the race. No beverages will be available besides individual bottled water. Packet pick up will be encouraged the day before the event to reduce the amount of people congregating before the 5K. All day of registrations will be handled through personal mobile devices so that paper, money, etc., does not change hands.
- You have NOT tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 30 days.
- You have NOT been in close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days or is suspected of being COVID-19 positive.
- You have NOT traveled to any of the following states in the last 14 days: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin or Wyoming.
- You have NOT had any of the symptoms within 72 hours of the event: fever or chills, cough, shortness or breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or a runny nose, nausea or vomiting.
I registered to walk but now I want to run. Can I switch after registering?
To switch activities, please email us at email@example.com by October 5, 2020.
I am fundraising on Facebook. Can people donate through Facebook?
Facebook will likely prompt you to “add a donate button” to your post.
Do NOT opt into the “donate” button if you want your funds to be attributed to your efforts. When donations are given through Facebook, they are given to BIANJ anonymously weeks after the transaction, and we have no way of tracking where it came from. Unfortunately once funds are given through the donate button, we have no control over them and cannot move them to your fundraising page.
It is best to include a link to your fundraising page instead.
Can I pick up my t-shirt before event day?

What happens if it is raining on event day?
The event is rain or shine.
Can I bring my dog with me?
Yes! Our event is dog-friendly. And so is our after party!
I am participating virtually. Will I receive my t-shirt?
If you register before September 1st, you will receive your t-shirt before the day of the in-person event.
What about the North, Central or South locations?
To keep everyone safe and enforce social distancing, the event had to be consolidated into one location. If the Bradley Beach Boardwalk location is too far for you, you can still participate virtually when you want, and wherever you want!
