Student Transition Re-Entry Program:
Connecting Hospitals and Schools

Presented by: Ann Glang, PhD

step-webinarDr. Ann Glang is a special education researcher who for over 20 years has designed and studied interventions to support children and adolescents with TBI, educators, and families.

Her research interests include childhood brain injury prevention, teacher training, and the development of effective strategies for helping teachers and families support children and adolescents with brain injuries.

Ann has served as a principal investigator for numerous NIH and Department of Education-funded projects in her role as a researcher at the Center on Brain Injury Research and Training at Western Oregon University.

This presentation reports on the STEP (Student Transition re-Entry Program) model, which strives to bridge the gap between hospital and school settings. Working through regional coordinators in each state’s Department of Education, the STEP model targets appropriate identification and supports for students with TBI in school settings. The model was evaluated in a multi-site study in Oregon, Ohio and Colorado. Results from the randomized controlled trial will be shared.
